CANOE VENTURES NAMES APPOINTMENTS TO SENIOR ROLES ON ENGINEERING & DEVELOPMENT TEAM
Team Based at Canoe's New Engineering Facility in Colorado
NEW YORK, May 26, 2009 - Canoe Ventures announced today the appointments of Kevin McHugh and Tom Huber to senior roles on its Engineering and Development team. The team is based out of the company's newly established engineering development and integration facility in Centennial, Colo., which opened April 1. The new roles will accelerate engineering schedules by managing advanced advertising application development, product testing and integration. They report to Christy Martin, Vice President of Solutions Engineering at Canoe Ventures. Canoe Ventures' new engineering facility resides in space leased from the Comcast Media Center (CMC), which is providing office and lab space as well as technical services.
Tom Huber, Executive Director of System Integration and Test, will drive the end-to-end integration between Canoe Ventures, programmers and cable operators to ensure delivery of robust solutions into the market. Previously, he was a consultant at DigiForge, where he led the development of test tools and definition of Canoe�s integration lab requirements and test plans. Prior to working with Canoe Ventures, Huber oversaw worldwide deployment of products for OpenTV and also led the company's Quality Assurance program. Prior to OpenTV, he was vice president of Operations and Intellectual Assets at Intellocity, Inc., a professional services firm focused on digital television platforms, infrastructure, and content. He also has served as the Computer Technology Counsel and Information Technology Leader for Koch Industries and, previously, provided technical support for a multi-million dollar enterprise development project at McGraw Hill School Systems. Huber attended the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, holds a B.A. in International Affairs from Florida State University plus a Masters of International Management and a J.D. from the University of Denver.
Kevin McHugh, Executive Director of Interactive Applications,, is responsible for managing enhanced television application development and working with Canoe Ventures' partners to commercially deploy interactive advertising on a national scale. McHugh has been supporting Canoe Ventures' interactive advertising development on a consulting basis since 2008. Previously, he was senior director of product development at TANDBERG Television, where his responsibilities included research and development of new products including iTV and on-demand technologies. He joined TANDBERG in 2001. McHugh also has served as a director of information technology at IBM and, prior to that, spent thirteen years at AT&T where he assumed a variety of technical management positions. He holds a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Georgia.
