CANOE VENTURES NAMES APPOINTMENTS TO SENIOR LEADERSHIP TEAM
John Collins, Bruce Dennler and Mark Mitchell are Appointed to Roles Managing Product Development and Client Relations
New York, December 8, 2008 Canoe Ventures, LLC, has announced that John Collins, Bruce Dennler and Mark Mitchell have been appointed to the company�s senior leadership team. The team�s experience spans a range of roles at leading companies, and in their new roles, will help define and deploy the company�s advanced advertising capabilities for use by networks, agencies and other marketing partners.

John F. Collins, Senior Vice President, Product Development will work with Canoe Ventures� technology and marketing teams to develop an array of advertising products and services built upon cable�s two-way, digital infrastructure reaching a growing audience across the country. Collins was most recently the Group Vice President of Advanced Advertising Technologies for Time Warner Cable, where he served for more than four years collaborating on the company�s advanced advertising initiatives and representing the company on a variety of industry committees. He has contributed to Innovation in Digital Advertising (IDiA) and the Cable & Telecommunications Association for Marketing (CTAM) On Demand Consortium, where he is currently a Co-Chair of the Advertising Sub-Committee. Collins has been involved with Project Canoe, Canoe Ventures� predecessor, since its formation in 2007. The Cable Advertising Bureau (CAB) honored Collins, along with Cox and Comcast representatives, in 2005 with the �Presiden ts Award� for contributions to Cross-MSO (multi system operator) collaboration in advanced advertising. Prior to joining Time Warner in 1996 as General Manager of Time Warner Cable Direct, he served as Vice President of Affiliate Relations for Cable Networks, Inc. (CNI) owned by Rainbow Advertising Sales Corporation, where he began his cable career in 1982. Collins attended Pace University in Pleasantville, NY.
Bruce Dennler, Senior Vice President and Chief Relationship Officer, Agency Relations will manage advertising agency relations. In this role, he will work with the country�s leading agencies to help them best utilize cable�s advanced advertising products and services on behalf of their clients. Based in Los Angeles, Dennler has more than 25 years of experience in the media and research fields. Most recently, he was the President of Nielsen Entertainment, a global division of The Nielsen Company, comprised of a portfolio of research brands that collectively provide the entertainment industry with a broad range of syndicated and custom research. Prior to joining Nielsen, Dennler was the President and COO of Palisades MediaGroup, an entertainment-based media services company. Previously, Dennler was the interim President of Carat USA, where he served in various roles for more than fifteen years, including Executive Vice President and Director of Planning for Carat North America. While at Cara t, Dennler was a part of the global team that created and implemented Carat�s planning process across North America, the Global Product Leadership Team and Aegis Product Lab. Prior to Carat, he helped ICG, and independent media services firm, to open its San Francisco office in 1989. Dennler began his career in 1983 as an assistant Media Planner at Grey Advertising Inc. Over the next several years he served as a Senior Planner and Supervisor at McCann-Erickson, and in 1986, he joined Media Buying Services, also in New York, as an Account Supervisor. Dennler received a B.A. from San Jose State University.
Mark Mitchell, SVP and Chief Relationship Officer, Network Relations will focus on forging collaborative partnerships with national cable and broadcast television networks. Mitchell will work with them to help them enhance their sales and programming efforts and increase their value proposition for both marketers and consumers using cable�s unique technologies, including addressable and interactive advertising plus advanced research products. Mitchell has relevant experience across a spectrum of broadcast and digital media. Previously, he spent five years at Premiere Retail Networks (PRN) helping to build it to become the nation�s largest retail television business. During his tenure, advertiser adoption across PRN�s family of networks increased revenue five-fold. Prior to PRN, Mark spent more than 10 years with the ABC Television Network, holding several senior management positions including Vice President of Sales for the Network's Daytime, Children's and SoapNet divisions, Vice Presiden t of Sports Sales, and Vice President of Primetime Sales in the Eastern Division. Mitchell�s experience includes serving as EVP of Sales and Marketing for Office Media Networks. OMN, in association with Dow Jones & Company, launched the Wall Street Journal Office Network, a digital media and event services network deployed in premiere office buildings across the nation�s top markets. He also served as Senior Vice President of Sales for POGO.com, a leading online family games provider, until Electronic Arts acquired the company. Mitchell began his career in the network television purchasing/programming department at Young & Rubicam in New York. He holds a B.A. from the University of Florida.
