CANOE VENTURES NAMES KATHY TIMKO AS COO

Former Telecom Executive Brings 25 Years of Industry Experience as a Senior Manager, Engineer and Computer Scientist

Canoe Ventures has named Kathy Timko Chief Operating Officer of the company. Effective June 1, 2009, Ms. Timko reports to David Verklin, Chief Executive Officer of Canoe Ventures. Kathy Timko is an accomplished senior executive, having served in key management roles and board positions in both start-up and mature high technology companies for the past 15 years. She has spent her career managing and scaling organizations, building products and infrastructure, and expanding businesses to meet market needs. For the past 10 years, she has held a range of senior leadership roles at various business units within IDT Corporation, a multinational holding company focused on the telecommunications and energy industries.

Most recently, Ms. Timko was the COO of Carrier Services at IDT, where she directed pricing, profit optimization, business metrics reporting and operations. In 2006, she was named Chief Operating Officer of IDT Telecom, where she oversaw the unit�s retail and wholesale businesses and was responsible for product management, technology, engineering and all operations. During her tenure at IDT, Ms. Timko also served as CTO of IDT Telecom, EVP of Technology of IDT Corporation, and COO of the Engineering and Operations Division. Ms. Timko began her career with IDT in 1998 as Vice President of Engineering and Operations and was appointed to the IDT Telecom Board of Directors in 2001.

Before joining IDT, Ms. Timko spent several years as EVP of Development and Operations at Call Sciences, a start-up company developing Personal Number Services. Previously, Ms. Timko worked on communications and software systems for Bellcore. She has also worked at Bolt, Beranak and Newman (BBN) where she worked on leading edge military projects and has held technical and management positions in a variety of technology-based companies focusing on the development of energy systems and robotics.

Ms. Timko currently serves as an independent director on the board of Motionbox, Inc. a company that provides Internet-based personal video sharing services.

Ms. Timko holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and an M.S. in Computer Science from Boston University. She maintains a strong presence within the community and has been honored by the Resource Center for Women and Their Families for her leadership and philanthropy.
